World Bank Team, ACReSAL Specialists Meet Community Interest Groups, Inspect Gullies In Gombe.

The World Team and Specialists from the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL have visited Community Interest Groups (CIGs) along the Federal College of Education (Technical) gully erosion site to inspect their activities.

The CIGs include 180 direct beneficiaries drawn from the adjoining communities, London Maidorawa, Wuro Kesa, Koranzari-Kayelbade, Jauro-Abare, Jauro-Kuna, Arawa and Wuroladde who are plying their trades in different vocations that comprised tailoring, bag making, cosmetology, catering, and waste management.

Speaking while inspecting assorted support materials provided by the Gombe State ACReSAL the World Bank Task Team Leader on the ACReSAL Project, Dr. Joy Iganya Agene congratulated the beneficiaries and charged them to use the equipment and improve their economic wellbeing.

She advised the Gombe State ACReSAL management to ensure all safety measures are put in place to avoid accidents, calling on the beneficiaries to always observe all safety rules while using the tools.

Presenting a key of a tricycle to the leader of the waste management community interest group leader, the ACReSAL Project’s National Project Coordinator, Mr. Abdulhamid Umar congratulated the group and charged them to keep the communities free of waste to avert potential health and environmental hazards.

Speaking earlier, the Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro said the items were procured as livelihood options for the CIGs in line with the ACReSAL result framework to improve the lives of the community members whose lives have been impacted by the FCE gully erosion.

The Team inspected the 25 km FCE(T) and 5.5 km Doma gullies and provided technical assistance to the Gombe State ACReSAL for successful implementation.
