Sani Adamu Jauro, PhD. (born 22nd January 1983 in Gombe Local Government, Gombe State) is an Environmentalist per excellent, who is currently the Project Coordinator Gombe State ACReSAL Project appointed by His Excellency Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON (Danmajen Gombe) the Executive Governor of Gombe State, and Chairman of Northern Nigerian Governors Forum.
Dr. Sani attended Ibrahim Bako Primary School Bauchi from 1989 to 1994 where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate, he also attended Govt. Science Secondary School Gombe from 1998 to 2001 and obtained his Secondary School Certificate.
In 2008 Sani Adamu Jauro obtained a Bachelor’s Degree B.Tech in Environmental Management Technology from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi,
in 2010 Jauro obtained Diploma in Computer from Prof. Iya Abubakar Community Resource Centre Bauchi, also holds Master’s Degree (MSc. Land Resources) in Geography from Bayero University, Kano in 2014. He later obtained his doctorate degree in Environmental Management Technology (Specialization: Conversion of Waste to Energy) from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi in the year 2024.
Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro began his career as a Corper Lecturer with Environmental Management Technology Programme of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi from 2009 to 2010, and also a Volunteer member of an NGO (Ahmed Kawu Heart for Children Initiative (AKHCI), Gombe, Gombe State, from 2010 to 1st Sept. 2022.
In the year 2012 Sani Jauro was employed as an Assistant Research Fellow with National Centre for Petroleum Research and Development, Energy Commission of Nigeria, ATBU Bauchi from 6th January 2012 to 30 June 2013. Also, in July 2013 joined the service of Gombe State University as an Academic staff with Geography Department, to 10th October 2018.
On 9th December 2019 Adamu Jauro was appointed Technical Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment & Forest Resource, Gombe State/Chairperson Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) Gombe State Steering Committee from 9th December 2019 to 6th November 2021. And later as NGOs Desk Officer of the NEWMAP Gombe State that supported tree planting campaign under the Gombe Goes Green (3G) project from 6th May 2020 to 7th July 2021, also Deputy Director Environment from 28th July 2022 to 1st September 2022.
From 23rd April 2020 to 1st September 2022 Mr. Sani Adamu Jauro was the Acting Director Planning, Research & Statistics of the Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources Gombe State, and in September, 2022 Sani Adamu Jauro was appointed Gombe State Project Coordinator Agro-Climatic Resilience in Arid Landscapes Project (ACReSAL). Sani was appointed Member of the 11-Man Gombe State Transition Management Committee that was saddled with the responsibility of handling the administrative transition of the government of His Excellency, Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Executive Governor of Gombe State from His first tenure into His new government (second term as Governor of the State) from 26th May 2023 to 17th July 2023.
Sani Jauro’s Experience in the Implementation of Donor Supported Projects:
I. Environmental Officer for the Gombe State World Bank supported the Government of Nigeria (GoN) Program for Results (PforR), referred to as Nigeria Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH). The Program supports the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP or ‘AP’) for the Revitalization of Nigeria’s WASH Sector. The NAP serves as the Government’s overall strategy and vehicle for investment and sector reforms to attain the SDGs for WASH. It provides a strategy to ensure that all Nigerians have access to sustainable and safely managed WASH services. The program is being implemented in seven (7) Nigerian States: Delta, Ekiti, Gombe, Imo, Kaduna, Katsina, and Plateau October 2021 – 1st September 2022.
II. Technical Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment & Forest Resource, Gombe State/Chairperson Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) Gombe State Steering Committee assisting the Steering Committee Chair in reviewing all NEWMAP Gombe annual and supplementary work plans, as well as in the oversight function of all the projects implemented under NEWMAP Gombe State 9th December 2019- 6th November 2021.
III. NGOs Desk Officer of the NEWMAP Gombe State that supported the tree planting campaign under the Gombe Goes Green (3G) project, during the period I provided technical support to NEWMAP Gombe and Gombe Goes Green project in coordinating all the NGOs under the project who are driving the tree planting campaign 6th May 2020 – 7th July 2021.
IV. Gombe State Desk Officer of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF) project, which is being implemented through the Environmentally Sound Management and Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) Project Management Unit under the Federal Ministry of Environment, that aimed at helping Nigeria to ultimately phase out the use of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), Pesticides, and other unintended by-products of Industrial processes in the power sector, as well as help Nigeria fulfill her obligations under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Environmental Pollutants which was adopted in 2001 and entered into force in 2004, the project is being implemented at about 17 States of the federation. 2019 – 1st September 2022.
V. Member Steering Committee for Urban Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Community of Practice (CoP) in Nigeria, an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and USAID WASH Coordination Project (WCP) August 2017-2020.
VI. Assisted in Coordinating the activities of the Society for Water and Sanitation (NEWSAN) an NGO that was supported by the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSC) in Geneva to conduct WASH sector Rapid Assessment in Gombe State to identify gaps and developed the Gombe State WASH sector Policy Brief, that would assist the State in achieving SDGs 5:6:10 for the actualization of Open Defecation Free (ODF) Gombe State, and road map to attaining Nigeria target of 2025 on ODF August-December, 2020.
VII. A Member of the Committee of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) Gombe State that UNICEF supported to carry out hand washing campaign across the 11 LGAs of Gombe State for the elimination of the Neglected Tropical Diseases 2017 – 2019.
VIII. Team leader for the monitoring of Health education sessions on causes and prevention of malaria with the support of Global Fund/Society for Family Health, through the Gombe State Roll Back Malaria Program at Kaltungo and Shongom LGAs of Gombe State, 2018- 1st September 2022.
IX. Coordinated the conducted of community mobilization with the support of Catholic Relief Services and Global Fund for the successful replacement of long-lasting insecticide treated nets in 4-LGAs of Gombe State (28th October 2018- 12th December 2018), and subsequently, we were also supported by the same partners for same project Implementation between August – September 2021, through the Gombe State Roll Back Malaria program
X. Steering Committee member of Gombe State project on Fostering Sustainability and Resilience for Food Security through the Gombe State Agricultural Development Program (GSADP), the GEF/UNDP 5-year project is being implemented across seven States, 2019- 1st September 2022.
XI. Gombe State Project Coordinator of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Arid Landscapes Project (ACReSAL), a Gombe State government World Bank donor-supported project (which is working in Environmental Management, Improving the Agricultural sector, as well as harnessing the potentials of the water resources sector of the 19 northern Nigeria States and the FCT) 1st September 2022 – Date.

Honours:
Adamu Sani Jauro was honored with an Ambassador of Peace award by the World Organization of Ambassadors Argentina, he also received Letters of commendation from the Honorable Commissioners of Environment, Education, Health and the State SDGs office for exceptional performance as the Director that Coordinated the fumigation of public places against COVID-19, and for playing a key role during the development of Social Protection Policy in Gombe State
