World Bank, ACReSAL Specialists Visit Funakaye Catchment.

Experts in various areas from the World Bank, and the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL National, and State office have today visited the Bajoga catchment under Funakaye LG as part of the 4-day technical support mission in Gombe State.
Speaking at the council chambers of the Emir of Funakaye, Bajoga, the Project Coordinator of Gombe, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro said the objective of the project is to increase adaptation of sustainable landscape management and improve people’s lives, especially at the grassroots.
He also appreciated the support given to the ACReSAL project by the Emir and the local government council, especially in mobilizing and sensitizing the people on climate action.
In his remarks, the World Bank Community Specialist, Andrews Seglah explained to the community people about the project approach and requested their input in terms of local and community-driven solutions for the team to improve project implementation and decision-making.
While welcoming the ACReSAL Team earlier, the Secretary to the Funakaye local government thanked the team and assured them of the council’s cooperation and support to ensure the ACReSAL project succeeded in Gombe state.
The Team was joined by the Emir of Bajoga in inspecting the Shahrah-Mansur project implementation site which has experienced incessant flooding resulting in losses of lives, land, and other assets over the years as recounted by the several victims including women.
The Bajoga site is one of the two catchments that would planned for intervention by the Gombe State ACReSAL Project.
