The Gombe state Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) team, led by the Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro has carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing 21-km FCE (T) Gully erosion control project.
Speaking during the inspection, the state ACReSAL project coordinator said the essence of the on-the-spot assessment of the project was to see the progress made so far, considering the heavy downpour of rain in the Gombe metropolis the previous day, adding that there is not much impact, and the project quality is maintained.

He said in line with the policy trust of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, they will put an eye on every step of the project and make sure the contractors work in tandem with what is in the bill of the engineering measurement.
While taking the ACReSAL team around the project site, the Project Manager of Triacta Nigeria Ltd, Imran Khan, said the project which was supposed to be completed within 36 months, is now almost 50% complete, as they hope to finish up in 12 months, which is earlier than the initial stipulated timeframe.
He said they experienced some challenges which the state government has helped them to overcome, and the major challenge they are foreseeing now is rainfall, adding that they are carrying out rain checks, and diversions, among other strategies to ensure that the project work is not affected.
The supervising consultant for the project from Suraj Nigeria Limited, Engineer Adamu Yusuf, said they observed that the contractor is very familiar with the terrain, and is using quality materials for the project while reiterating their commitment to support them in executing the project effectively.

The Village head of Jaurokuna, and chairman GRM of the project, Abubakar Isa appreciated the state government, ACReSAL team, and the contractors, for the project, saying that they have received over 100 complaints and settled all, with only 8 outstanding, which he believed will be decided soon.
Recall that the FCE(T) gully erosion control project, which is a state government and World Bank-funded project traverses through London Maidoruwa, Arawa, Tukulma Beto, Wuro Kesa, Juarokuna and Kagarawal communities within Gombe metropolis.
