The Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, urged community members near the treated FCE gully to avoid encroaching on the recovered land.

He made this appeal during a meeting with community leaders at the Gombe local government headquarters, emphasizing that the gully control intervention is meant to protect residents and their properties from flooding and other environmental hazards.
Dr. Jauro called on individuals who have received compensation for the FCE gully intervention to evacuate and relocate to safer areas to allow for project completion. He praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to enhancing the lives of the people and protecting the environment.
During the meeting, Alh. Usman Shetima, the Overseeing Senior District Head of Gombe, expressed gratitude for the ACReSAL intervention, which has saved lives and properties.
Stakeholders noted that building in the recovered areas would obstruct rescue access during disasters.
It was decided that the demolition of compensated structures will begin on January 22, 2025, executed by Triacta Nigeria Limited.
The meeting included various district heads, village heads, and representatives from state agencies.
