
PROFFER SOLUTIONS TO ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES- Gombe ACReSAL PC Tells Students
The Gombe State Project Coordinator of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL project, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro has urged students to embark on research to proffer solutions to the environmental challenges in the country.
Amb. Sani made the call at his office during the send-forth of 13 students from various institutions of higher learning who undertook their Industrial Training with the Gombe State NEWMAP which has transmuted into ACReSAL.
He said although the Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has done a lot in terms of addressing land degradation in Gombe state through well-crafted policy measures and programmes like the Gombe Goes Green environmental challenges like flooding, soil erosion, and desert encroachment persist in most of the country.
While calling on other leaders to emulate the Gombe State governor in combating environmental problems he challenged the I.T. students to use the knowledge gained from working with NEWMAP and ACReSAL to embark on research to answer the basic environmental questions.
Earlier in a welcome remark, the Gombe State ACReSAL internal supervisor, Richard James commended the students for conducting themselves well and contributing their quota in implementing the NEWMAP in the state.
In their separate remarks, the project M&E, Maryam Abubakar Mahdi, and Natural Resources Officer, Mohammed Musa Aliyu tasked the students to be the project’s third-party cheerleaders and its ambassadors in the various learning institutions.
Speaking on behalf of the interns Abdulhamid Abdullahi of Bauchi State University Gadau and Aisha Mohammed Pindiga of ABTU, Bauchi thanked the staff and management for assisting during their I.T. period.
