The Gombe State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) valued at ₦1.2 billion with Blumen Technologies Ltd to operationalize a plastics recycling and injection molding facility established under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project.
The facility, located at one of the state’s designated dump sites, will drive a waste-to-wealth initiative aimed at promoting the circular economy by converting organic and plastic waste into new plastic products and organic fertilizer.
Speaking on the agreement, Mohammed Bello Abubakar Kumo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water, Environment & Forest Resources, explained that Blumen Technologies will bring in technical expertise to fully operationalize the facility.
The partnership, structured under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, will run for 15 years and reflects the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to sustainable economic development. Operations are scheduled to commence within the next three months, with anticipated benefits including job creation, enhanced environmental protection, improved agricultural productivity, and strengthened economic growth.
