GOMBE STATE ACReSAL TO MOP UP OUT-OF-SCHOOL CHILDREN
Over 1000 out-of-school children around the Federal College of Education, Gombe Gully will be mopped up and enrolled in school by the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape – ACReSAL.
This comes after a meeting of the Gombe State ACReSAL with the team of Transit School Initiative (TSI) on how to mop up out-of-school children within the FCE(T) catchment area.
Speaking after a presentation by the Gombe State TSI Coordinator, Chris Luka, the Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro revealed that the project intends to support vulnerable and physically challenged children to attend school as part of the project’s catchment management plan.
He said the initiative, which is in line with the educational policy of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa’s administration would improve the livelihoods of the targeted children.
Amb. Sani Assured the TSI team that Gombe State ACReSAL is ready for a partnership that would give the vulnerable children, especially the girl child opportunity to attend school and become useful to society.
Earlier in a presentation the Gombe State Coordinator of Transit School Initiative, Mr. Chris Luka said the organization was seeking to partner with the Gombe State ACReSAL to mop up school-age children whose parents cannot afford to send them to school.
He said TSI has already identified over 400 out-of-school children in Runde community which is part of the FCE gully larger catchment
Mr. Chris Luka disclosed that his organization had carried out the same operation in Shongom LGA where a lot of out-of-school children have mopped up and transited to school and they are doing well.
