Gombe State ACReSAL Takes Awareness Campaign To Lamido Akko, LGAs
The awareness train of the Gombe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape – ACReSAL today berth at the palace of Lamido Akko, Kaltungo, and Shongom local government headquarters.
Speaking while giving an overview of the ACReSAL Project the Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro enjoined the Lamido Akko, Caretaker Council chairmen of Kaltungo and Shongom who were represented during the event to support the project implementation in their respective areas.
He said the objective of the ACReSAL Project was to improve the environment, explore and manage surface and underground water, help communities adapt to the best agricultural practices to ensure food security, and mitigate incidences of conflict.
The Gombe State Natural Resources Officer, Muhammad Musa Aliyu while responding to questions from the audience said the ACReSAL project would minimize loss by local farmers who might produce crops in excess through a value chain that would guarantee access to the market.
In their separate responses Lamido Akko, Alh. Umar Muhammad Atiku, Kaltungo, and Shongom local government Chairmen represented by the Deputy Secretary, Comfort David Ishaku, and Ag. Secretary, Saidu Manzo Filiya, respectively assured of support for the successful implementation of the ACReSAL Project in the state.
They praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for paying counterpart contribution of the state and expressed optimism that the project objectives would be actualized in the state.
Information and educational materials in the form of factsheets, posters, and brochures were presented by the Project Coordinator to Lamido Akko and the local government council chairs.
