Gombe State ACReSAL Flags Off 16,000 Hectares Tree Planting
As part of a drive to plant trees on 16,000 hectares of land in Gombe State, the Gombe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL has planted 400 trees at the New-City Shongo, Gombe.
Addressing journalists after the exercise, the Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro said the Project has targeted planting 16,000 trees in the state that will include sides of all the road networks constructed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration under “Network 11-100.
He said the idea was to recover degraded lands and support the effort of the present administration in restoring the state’s lost vegetation, mitigating the impact of climate change, and addressing environmental challenges affecting the socioeconomic well-being of the citizenry.
Amb. Sani Adamu commended Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations for their participation in the tree planting and urged the communities to protect the trees from damage and nurture them to maturity.
Eight environmental NGOs supported the Gombe State ACReSAL in the tree planting exercise.
