Gombe State ACReSAL Begins Consultation With Line MDAs On The 2023 Work Plan.

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL, Gombe State Project Management Unit has commenced high-level discussions with line Ministries, Departments, and Agencies for an expedient and speedy work implementation.

The Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro while speaking during the meeting with the representatives from the State Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources said the meeting was convened to take a deep dive into the submissions of the ministry and look at the scope and specifications of the equipment needed for the protection of wildlife in the state.

He said the SPMU has planned to strengthen the capacity of the ministry to manage and protect wildlife in the state by providing equipment and providing requisite training the staffers.

Speaking earlier, the Director of the Forestry Department, Inuwa Ahmed Baagale said some of the equipment needed include a drone, binoculars, rangers uniform, standing camera, headlamps, and a fathometer among others.

He added that there is a need establishment of hippo sanctuaries for the training of rangers, and ambassadors and scaling up of sensitization among the shoreline communities.

The director said Some of the animals that are under threat of extinction include hippopotamus, warthogs, bats, gazel, and monkeys.
