
Gombe Gov., Housing Minister Commend Gombe ACReSAL.
The Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed joy with the project executed by the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL in Gombe state.
The Governor made the commendations on the heels of an inspection of the ongoing 21km FCE(T) gully erosion control project undertaken by the Gombe State ACReSAL as part of events marking the first anniversary of his second tenure in office.
Governor Inuwa said his administration leveraged the ACReSAL project which the World Bank supported to control some of the severe and active gullies including the Gombe State University constructed under Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project – NEWMAP and the FCE(T) gullies by ACReSAL.
He said the two projects have saved thousands of lives and properties from imminent destruction and improved the livelihood of the citizens.
In his remarks, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa said he was happy seeing members of the FCE(T) community member express their joy over the gully control work.
While commending the state and the World Bank for supporting the ACReSAL Project to save people’s lives, he expressed confidence that the people will no longer be afraid of flooding because the risk has been reduced due to the gully control project.
On his part, the company’s Project Manager undertaking the construction work, Triacta Nigeria Limited, Engr. Imran Khan Amin said the work has reached a 75% completion rate and they are exerting effort to complete the work before the start of heavy rainfall.
While taking the Governor and his entourage around the storm drains the Commissioner of Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Mohammed Sa’idu Fawu, and the Gombe State ACReSAL Project, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro affirmed that the contractors are carrying out the works by the World Bank’s standard and regulations.
