
Gombe ACReSAL PC Canvasses Support of Environment Commissioner, HOCS

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes- ACReSAL, Gombe State Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro has asked for the support of the Commissioner of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources and the State Head of Civil Service toward actualizing the ACReSAL objectives.
Amb. Sani Adamu led a Team of the Gombe State ACReSAL Staff to the offices of the government officials at the state secretariat where he gave the project implementation status and requested support to be able to implement the project activities.

He explained that the project focused on restoring degraded lands, improving agriculture, and exploiting surface and groundwater sources for irrigation and dry season farming, adding that the project would revamp the Balanga Dam canals, provide agricultural implements to farmers, and control major gullies in the state metropolis.
Amb. Sani Adamu announced that the project had given an award letter to the company that emerged winner of the 21km Federal College of Education (Technical) gully erosion sites.
He commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the support of the project which has been instrumental to the successes recorded so far.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Mohammed Saidu Fawu assured of the support toward a successful project activity implementation and enjoined the project staff to work as a team for a strong performance and impact on communities.
On his part, the State Head of Civil Service, Alh. Ahmed Kasimu Abdulkadir also called for synergy and collaboration amongst project staff and other relevant MDAs in the state to ensure good working relations.
He reiterated the need for the project to scale up advocacy and sensitization on tree planting in line with the Gombe Goes Green mandate of protecting the environment.
Letters of congratulations were presented to the two government officials by the Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator on their respective appointments.
