Gombe ACReSAL Coordinator Reaffirms Support for Civil Society and Agricultural Stakeholders

The Gombe State Coordinator of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, has pledged continued collaboration with civil society organizations and agricultural groups to enhance food security and community livelihoods across the state.
Dr. Jauro made the commitment during a courtesy visit by representatives of the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) and the Gombe State Yam Sellers Association. He emphasized the project’s readiness to partner with CS-SUNN in promoting the production of nutrient-rich foods, leveraging the organization’s research data to inform livelihood improvement strategies.
In a related development, the ACReSAL coordinator assured the Yam Sellers Association of targeted support for yam cultivation and processing initiatives in the state. “We recognize the economic potential of yam farming in Gombe and are committed to strengthening the value chain,” he stated.
Dr. Jauro also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his administration’s commitment to nutrition and food security, particularly through the “Garin Inuwa” initiative.
Speaking during the visit, CS-SUNN State Coordinator Ms. Comfort Mukollo congratulated Dr. Jauro on his leadership and praised the project’s rapid achievements. Similarly, Alhaji Sani Ahmad, Chairman of the Yam Sellers Association, noted that Gombe ranks third in yam trade in northern Nigeria, after Kano and Borno, and called for increased support to scale operations.
He lauded ACReSAL’s ongoing efforts to empower communities through its Community Revolving Fund (CRF) component, which he described as a “lifeline for grassroots entrepreneurs.”
