Gombe ACReSAL Clinches Overall Best Award The Gombe State Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources Muhammed Saidu Fawu, alongside members of the state Steering/Technical Committee, attended a one-day stakeholders’ engagement which took place at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.
The Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Sani Adamu Jauro reports that the event had in attendance the Ministers of Environment, Water Resources & Sanitation, and Agriculture, and Food Security.
Other dignitaries were the World Bank Operations Manager, TTL, Co-TTLs, NPC, Honourable Commissioners of Environment, Agriculture and Waters Resources, Head PFMUs, representatives of the project line federal MDAs, and State Project Coordinators from the 20 ACReSAL projects states of Nigeria.
The notable delegates from Gombe include the Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture, livestock and Cooperative, Mr Barnabas Malle, Permanent Secretaries of the two ministries Dr Ibrahim Yakubu of the Ministry of Agriculture, and Danladi Adamu of Water Resources, Director of Water Resources and Gombe ACRESAL Project Coordinator Sani Jauro, were all in attendance.
The Hallmark of the event was the presentation of awards and Gombe State ACReSAL was said to have performed excellently as it was declared overall best among 20 states while emerging top in Social Safeguard, GIS Application, and Communication Activity, 1st Runner up in Workflow, Turnaround, and Responsiveness.
Gombe State also emerged 1st Runner up in Project Engineering/Civil work/Bio Engineering, 1st Runner up in Procurement Competency, 2nd Runner up in Community Driven, 1st Runner up in Policy Support, 1st Runner up in Political Will, 1st Runner up in Project Implementation, 2nd Runner up in Transparency and Integrity, 1st Runner up in Disbursement of funds.
It will be recalled that Gombe state has been referenced by the World Bank as one of the states to fulfill its obligations to key in on the implementation of the World Bank Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes project in Nigeria due to the Commitment of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who has always ensured that the state pays its counterpart fund as at when due to enjoy full implementation of the ACReSAL Project in the state.
