FAO Technical Support Mission to Gombe State – Strengthening ACReSAL Implementation
A team from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), led by Mr. Precious Agbesor, is on a technical support mission to Gombe State as part of its ongoing engagement under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project.
Welcomed by the Gombe State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, the mission team, which included Mr. Andrew Iloh and Ms. Yakaka Maina, received assurances of full cooperation and logistical support to ensure the success of the visit. Dr. Jauro highlighted the significant technical and material assistance already extended to farmers across identified catchments through the ACReSAL initiative.
This mission underscores FAO’s commitment to strengthening project implementation and aligning restoration efforts with global best practices.
Mission Objectives are to evaluate progress since the initial engagement in April 2025, validate restoration activities across targeted sites, and provide enhanced technical guidance to improve project outcomes.
The team visited several key locations in Funakaye Local Government Area, including Sangaru, Kesala, Ashaka-Gari, and Mutuke, communities where farmers have benefited from FAO-supported interventions. A courtesy visit was also paid to the Emir of Funakaye, reinforcing stakeholder engagement and community collaboration.
FAO remains dedicated to supporting sustainable land restoration and climate resilience across Nigeria’s semi-arid landscapes.
