The staff of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL in the nineteen northern states including the FCT have been charged to upscale their commitment toward the successful implementation of the project.

The World Bank Task Team Leader on ACReSAL Project, Dr. Joy Iganya Agene gave the charge at the end of a 5-day Implementation Support Mission at the Custodian Hotel, Gombe.

She said, given the series of capacity building trainings held in Jos, Plateau state on Geographic Information System, Catchment Management Plan, component B of the project and the just concluded one in Gombe on different areas that include Financial Management, M&E, and Procurement staff should deliver on their responsibilities toward realizing the project objectives.

She commended the Gombe State ACReSAL Team for the successful launch of the project and the hosting of events that followed.

In his remarks, the National Project Coordinator, Abdulhamid Umar described the mission in Gombe as successful in terms of content, expressing hope that all participants would put the knowledge acquired into use and cascade it down to other states who were not in Gombe for the mission.

He also charged staff to support and fully implement the project in their various states in line with the project objectives and set targets.

In a vote of thanks, the Gombe State Project Coordinator, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro thanked the Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for supporting the ACReSAL Project and the opportunity to officially launch it and host the week-long event in the state.

He expressed gratitude to the Bank Team led by Dr. Joy Iganya Agene and the National Office under the coordination of Abdulhamid Umar for handholding states involved in the project, assuring that staff would bring the knowledge acquired to bear on the implementation for optimal results.

Recall that participants from the World Bank, ACReSAL Federal Project Management Unit, and officers from Bauchi and Plateau states have been in Gombe from 30th July to 4th August for the mission which was wrapped up today.
