ACReSAL NPC COMMENDS GOV. INUWA ON PAYMENT OF COUNTERPART
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has been commended for the prompt payment of N500 million government counterpart contribution for the implementation of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL Project in the state.
The Ag. National Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Engr. Anda Ayuba Yalaks made the commendation at the end of the hybrid implementation support mission in Kano involving all the 19 states in the north including the federal capital territory.
Engr. Anda who praised the Gombe state government for acting with dispatch in paying a total of 503 million counterpart contribution said the state has demonstrated commitment and readiness to commence the project implementation.
On the overall impact of the mission, Engr. Anda commended the ACReSAL Task Team Leader, Dr. Joy Agene Iganya and the World Bank team for the technical support and knowledge sharing which he said would have enhanced the capacities of the participants to execute the project their various states.
He enjoined states to adhere to the procurement regulations and World Bank’s standard in all procurement aspect to gain value for money and avoid mismanagement.
Earlier speaking the ACReSAL Task Team Leader from World Bank, Dr. Joy Agene Iganya described the mission as a huge success and promised to create more avenues for capacity building of the project staff for effective project implementation.
The implementation support mission witnessed presentations and knowledge sharing on the use of technology, community revolving funds, monitoring and evaluation, geographic information system, financial management amongst others.
