Gombe State’s ACRSAL Collaborates with Halima Factor Community Initiative
…Sponsors Award in Recognition of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s Achievements
Gombe State’s ACReSAL has formed a partnership with the HalimaFactor Community Initiative to address the effects of climate change in the northeast region.
In collaboration with the HalimaFactor Community Initiative, Gombe State’s ACReSAL took part in the 4th Northeast Festival of Literature, Culture, and Creativity (NEFLiCC), themed “Future Perspective: Climate Change, Innovation, and Heritage.”
During the event, the Gombe State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, represented by the Project Communications Officer, Richard James, praised Halima Usman, the founder of the HalimaFactor Community Initiative, for organizing the events. He highlighted the importance of providing children with a platform to showcase their talents and contribute solutions to community challenges, particularly those related to climate change.
He stated that Gombe State ACReSAL has undertaken climate initiatives, which encompass the creation of woodlot and orchard plantations, establishment of plant nurseries, gully erosion control measures, and the enhancement of community climate resilience via community awareness programs.
Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro expressed his gratitude towards Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his substantial support of the project, especially for the allocation of over 800 million Naira in government counterpart funds. He mentioned that the Project has chosen to sponsor awards in the Governor’s honor as a token of appreciation for his commitment to the project and his efforts in combating climate change.
During her speech, the Founder and Convener of the Halima Factor Community Initiative conveyed her thanks to Gombe State ACReSAL for their collaboration, supplying seedlings, and funding poetry awards in the intermediate category, honoring the first three winners.
She conveyed optimism that the partnership between her NGO and Gombe State ACReSAL would produce effective strategies for sustainable land management and environmental conservation.
The ACReSAL-sponsored awards were presented to the recipients by Mohammed Saidu Fawu, the State Commissioner for Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, representing Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, known as the “Green Governor.
