ACReSAL Trains Stakeholders On GBV … rounds up 4-Day Implementation Support Mission in Gombe

Over 40 Gender-Based Violence (GBV) service providers have been trained by the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL Project in Gombe State.
The training which was supported by the national office of the ACReSAL was facilitated by the Gombe State ACReSAL Project Management Unit in collaboration with the Centre for Nonviolence and Gender Advocacy in Nigeria (CENGAIN).
Speaking during the event at the National Library hall, Gombe, Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro, Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator enjoined the participants drawn from line MDAs, Security Agencies, and civil society organizations to contribute their quotas in identifying and reporting gender-based violence.
He said, there were no cases of GBV during NEWMAP implementation due to the proactiveness of all stakeholders especially the traditional leaders, and the commitment of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.
In his remarks, the World Bank Community Specialist, Andrews Seglah described the training as impeccable because it would strengthen the capacity of the service providers to address any GBV case that might arise during work implementation.
Earlier, the CENGAIN Team Lead, Obadia Samuel said the training was aimed at raising participants’ awareness of GBV and increasing their knowledge and understanding of survivors-centered post-GBV service provision including clinical management of rape.
Some participants who spoke after the training agreed that the movement had widened their understanding of GBV issues and appreciated ACReSAL for organizing the event.
Meanwhile, the experts from the World Bank and the ACReSAL national office have rounded up the 4-day technical implementation mission in Gombe with an engagement of the rice husk and gleaning community at Unguwa Uku (Gindin Dutse), a visit to the Gombe Mega Motor Park and a review of activities and work plan.
