ACReSAL Plants Exotic Mango and Black Currant Seedlings in GRA Extension In a fresh push toward climate resilience and urban beautification

The Gombe State ACReSAL Project has planted exotic varieties of mango and black currant across the GRA extension in the state capital.
Speaking during the event, Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, said, “The tree-planting exercise aligns seamlessly with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s Green Gombe Agenda, which seeks to restore degraded landscapes, curb environmental pollution, and promote sustainable ecosystems in the urban heart of Gombe.”
He stressed that ACReSAL: Greening the Environment, Saving Lives” isn’t just a slogan—it’s an evolving legacy because “these fruit-bearing trees are expected to offer multiple benefits including Urban cooling through shade and canopy cover, air purification and carbon sequestration, food security and nutritional value anl Landscape enrichment with aesthetically pleasing green zones.
In his remarks, Muhammad Musa Aliyu, the Natural Resources Officer of the Gombe State ACReSAL, explained that the GRA extension, one of Gombe’s prominent residential quarters, now hosts what will become a model for community-level agroforestry and biodiversity enrichment.
This intervention complements previous ACReSAL efforts, including storm drain desilting, water harvesting, and afforestation drives across 11 LGAs. As the seedlings take root, so too does the hope of a greener, healthier future for Gombe’s residents.”
