ACRESAL NPC COMMENDS GOVERNOR INUWA YAHAYA FOR IMPACTFUL PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The National Project Coordinator of the Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), Abdulhamid Umar, has lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State for spearheading impactful projects that directly benefit communities under the ACReSAL programme.
Abdulhamid Umar made the commendation during an inspection visit to Gombe, where he led a delegation from Abuja to assess ongoing interventions across the state. He praised Governor Yahaya’s leadership in establishing ACReSAL and mobilizing northern governors to support its implementation.
Among the sites visited were the Green House Facility for cucumber production, where construction of a pathology laboratory intended to serve as a reference centre for the Northeast is underway, and an erosion control project stretching from Nayinawa to Government Girls’ Mega College, Doma.
The National Coordinator expressed satisfaction with the quality and scale of work at the pathology laboratory, describing it as a model for similar interventions in other states. He further commended Governor Yahaya for appointing a competent and visionary State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro.
In his remark, Dr. Sani Jauro explained that the pathology laboratory is part of a broader catchment management plan under ACReSAL’s institutional strengthening component, noting that the commendation would motivate the team to sustain the pace and quality of implementation.
Engr. Amir Khan, Area Manager of Triacta Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the job, acknowledged challenges encountered during execution but assured that the project would be completed within the agreed timeframe.
The inspection visit concluded with a renewed commitment by both national and state teams to ensure the timely completion and sustainability of the projects.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the initiatives will strengthen environmental resilience and enhance socio-economic development across Gombe State and the wider Northeast region.
