ACReSAL, NESREA Conduct Environmental Compliance Inspection at FCE Gully Erosion Site
Gombe State office of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has partnered with the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) to inspect the recently completed gully erosion control site at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe.
The joint inspection aimed to assess environmental compliance following the extensive reclamation works carried out under the ACReSAL initiative.
Representing the Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, Environmental Safeguard Officer Dr. Yahaya Ibrahim emphasized ACReSAL’s commitment to upholding environmental standards and pledged to adopt any professional recommendations provided by NESREA.
“We remain committed to implementing expert guidance to ensure long-term sustainability and environmental safety for the people of Gombe,” Dr. Yahaya stated.
Leading the NESREA delegation, North-East Sub-Regional Director Mr. Charles Joshua Shara described the visit as part of the agency’s compliance monitoring mandate. He expressed satisfaction with the erosion control measures, including gully-side plantations and land reclamation efforts.
Mr. Shara stressed the importance of regular site maintenance to preserve the gains achieved through the intervention.
The inspection underscores the collaborative efforts between federal and state agencies to ensure that environmental restoration projects meet national standards and deliver lasting impact.
