ACRESAL, FAO Experts Commence Technical Support Mission on Land Restoration in Gombe
Experts from the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, in collaboration with specialists from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), have commenced a technical support mission in Gombe State focused on land restoration.
The mission is aimed at providing technical guidance, strengthening restoration approaches, and supporting the implementation of sustainable land restoration initiatives across targeted areas of the state.
The technical team comprises FPMU Agriculture Expert, Mr. Cyril Abang Bikom; Climate Specialist, Mrs. Alhassan Henrietta; FAO specialists, Prof. Maina Yakaka, Mr. Ibrahim Mato and Dr. Precious; and Mr. Stanley Onu from the Federal Ministry of Environment.
The collaboration is in line with ACReSAL’s objective of scaling up sustainable landscape management and restoring degraded lands through integrated, climate-resilient approaches. FAO’s land-restoration approach similarly emphasises sustainable land and water management, integrated land-use planning, improved soil health and community participation.
