NAWIA Honours Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator for Outstanding Support to Women in Agriculture

The National Association of Women in Agriculture (NAWIA), Gombe State Chapter, has presented an Award of Excellence to the Coordinator of the Gombe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to supporting women and communities through agricultural interventions.

Presenting the award plaque to the Project Coordinator at his office, the Chairperson of NAWIA, Gombe State Chapter, Umar, said the honour reflected the association’s appreciation of the remarkable achievements recorded by Gombe ACReSAL in providing agricultural support and empowerment opportunities, particularly for women.

Hajiya Amina explained that the association and its members had benefited from several interventions facilitated by the project, including advisory services, drought-tolerant seeds, energy-efficient cookstoves, and other initiatives designed to improve livelihoods and strengthen climate resilience.

She commended Gombe ACReSAL for prioritising women’s participation in its programmes, noting that the support received had contributed significantly to improved agricultural productivity and the socio-economic well-being of beneficiaries.

In his response, the Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, . , expressed appreciation to NAWIA for the recognition, describing the award as an encouragement to intensify efforts in supporting women and vulnerable groups across the state.

Dr. Jauro reaffirmed the project’s commitment to promoting inclusive development, stressing that women remain a key focus of ACReSAL interventions due to their critical role in agriculture, food security, and community development.

He also commended NAWIA for its dedication to advancing the welfare of women and encouraged the association to sustain its advocacy and collaboration in creating more opportunities for women in agriculture.
