Gombe Reaffirms Partnership with World Bank on ACReSAL Project
The Gombe State Government has restated its commitment to continued collaboration with the World Bank in advancing sustainable development.
Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’idu Fawu, made the declaration while opening a four-day training for enumerators on the third-party assessment of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project at Matrix International Academy, Gombe.
He disclosed that the state has so far received $27.51 million in funding under the initiative, reaching more than 930,000 beneficiaries and improving land management across 64,000 hectares.
ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, explained that the training is designed to review achievements, identify challenges, and ensure accurate reporting of the project’s performance. He commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his political will, which he said has been central to the successes recorded so far.
In goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Dr. Barnabas Malle, and representatives of the World Bank emphasized the importance of the exercise, urging enumerators to remain professional and objective.
The National Project Coordinator’s representative, Abdulhamid Umar, represented by Mr. Sylvester Uchechukwu, praised Gombe State for its consistent leadership in ACReSAL activities, expressing optimism that the assessment could pave the way for increased funding.
